About

From a village in Bangladesh to Page 1 in Copenhagen.

I have a Master's degree in Food Technology from DTU. I use it to make websites safe for Google to crawl. Different kind of contamination, same obsession with getting it right.

The full story

Eight years. One very unexpected path.

  1. 2014
    Bangladesh

Curiosity, an internet connection, and nothing else

I started learning SEO in a small village in rural Bangladesh. There were no local courses, no mentors, no community. Just the internet, broken English tutorials, and a genuine curiosity about why some websites showed up on Google and others simply did not. I started with nothing and learned everything by doing.

In hindsight, having no distractions was the best SEO education money could not buy.

  2. 2014
    Elance

First client. First dollar. First obsession.

I started freelancing on Elance, which would later merge with oDesk to become Upwork. My first projects were small. My fees were smaller. But I was learning faster than anyone I knew because every project was a new experiment. I was doing SEO while studying for a food engineering degree, which made for some very confusing revision sessions.

Nobody tells you that keyword cannibalism and nutrient absorption are equally hard to explain at dinner.

  3. 2016
    Upwork & Fiverr

Hundreds of projects. Dozens of industries.

As Elance became Upwork, I kept building. E-commerce, SaaS, local businesses, health sites, blogs. Each project taught me something the last one did not. I added Fiverr alongside Upwork and started building a reputation entirely based on results rather than promises. Over 200 clients across the EU and US, all while completing my BSc in Nutrition and Food Engineering.

I have audited more websites than I have eaten hot meals. That is not an exaggeration. It is a cry for help.

  4. 2020
    Graduated

BSc in Nutrition and Food Engineering

Graduated from Daffodil International University with a degree in Nutrition and Food Engineering. My thesis had nothing to do with SEO. My career already did. I kept freelancing, kept growing the client base, and kept wondering what it would look like to take the SEO work somewhere bigger.

  5. 2023
    Copenhagen

Moved to Denmark. Started an MSc at DTU.

I moved to Copenhagen in 2023 to study Food Technology at the Technical University of Denmark, one of the best technical universities in Europe. I studied food safety, HACCP and ISO standards by day. I did SEO by night. I made Danish friends who still do not fully understand what I do for a living.

I am fluent in Google Search Console. Danish is still a work in progress. Currently on page 47 of the dictionary.

  6. 2025
    Conceivio

    First in-house role. Real results.

Joined Conceivio as SEO Specialist in October 2025. Took a health tech startup site from near-zero organic presence to 574K impressions and 5,790 clicks in a single quarter. Peaked at 23K daily impressions. This is what happens when you give someone with 8 years of freelance instincts a single product to focus on.

Turns out if you fix everything that is broken and publish content people actually want, Google notices. Revolutionary stuff.

  7. 2025
    Copenhagen

MSc graduated. Looking for what is next.

Graduated from DTU in February 2025 with an MSc in Food Technology. Fully settled in Denmark. Committed to being here long term. Now looking for an in-house SEO role with a team that ships things, measures honestly, and treats organic as a real channel rather than a line item. Available now.

Eight years. Two degrees. One obsession. Still cannot explain to my mother what SEO is.

All organic. No paid ads. No shortcuts. Just proper SEO work done consistently.

This is what I do when someone gives me a real product to focus on.

Food tech MSc. SEO career. Both real.

Yes, they are completely different. No, I cannot explain it at family dinners either. What I can tell you is that both disciplines taught me the same thing: results come from understanding systems, fixing what is broken, and being obsessive about the details nobody else wants to deal with.

Working with me

What it is actually like to have me on your team.

🔬

I diagnose before I prescribe

Eight years of freelancing taught me that every site has a different problem. I audit properly before I recommend anything. No template strategies.

The food tech degree actually helps here. HACCP is just an SEO audit for sandwiches.

📊

I measure everything honestly

If something is not working I will tell you before you see it in the data. I would rather have an uncomfortable conversation than a comfortable lie.

Transparency is free. Vanity metrics are expensive.

🤝

I work best with one product

Freelancing taught me to context-switch. In-house taught me that focus compounds. I work best when I can go deep on one product with one team on one roadmap.

I will absolutely annoy the Slack channel. In a useful way.

⚙️

I do the boring stuff

Redirect chains, broken links, schema markup, crawl budget. The work nobody wants to write about in case studies but everyone benefits from when it is done properly.

The most exciting SEO work is usually the least exciting to explain.

🌍

Cross-cultural by default

Built a career across EU and US markets from Bangladesh. Studied at DTU in Denmark. I understand international audiences and Danish working culture.

I have worked with more nationalities than most people have visited countries.

📈

I think in systems

SEO is not a checklist. It is a system of compounding inputs. I think about how everything connects — content, technical health, authority, intent — not just individual tactics.

It is basically food safety but for robots. I am very comfortable with this.

The toolstack

What I use. And how well I use it.

🔍

Google Search Console

Daily. Borderline unhealthy.

🧭

Ahrefs

Keyword research, backlink audits, competitor gaps.

🐸

Screaming Frog

Technical audits, crawl analysis.

📈

Google Analytics 4

Traffic analysis, conversion tracking.

🗄️

SQL

Data queries, log file analysis.

📊

Google Sheets

A worrying amount of Sheets.

🧪

Semrush

Site audits, position tracking.

🤖

AI Visibility Tools

Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, SGE monitoring.

The short version

Everything you need to know before we talk.

I am Ashraful Islam. I grew up in Bangladesh, built an SEO career on the internet, moved to Denmark for a food tech degree, and ended up staying because this is where I want to be.

I am looking for an in-house SEO role anywhere in Denmark with a team that treats organic seriously. If that sounds like your team, I would genuinely love to hear from you.

Fun fact nobody asked for

My MSc thesis was on food safety systems. My actual expertise is website safety systems. I have spent a decade making sure things do not get contaminated, whether that is food or a crawl index.
